NALAG, as part of the “EcoYOU: Clean and Green Minds for Environmentally Friendly Behavior” project, continues its educational activities for young people. This time, seminars were held for students from the Dusheti and Khashuri municipalities on October 9 and 10.
The purpose of these events was to raise awareness among young people about the various forms of pollution affecting Black Sea basin countries. In particular, the seminars provided information on the desertification of protected areas and rivers, as well as topics related to the circular economy, waste management, and climate change.
After the seminars, environmental pollution patrol activities were organized in the areas adjacent to the Zhinvali Reservoir and the Khashuri Development Office. Tatiana Bokuchava and Lasha Archvadze, NALAG’s Deputy Executive Directors, along with Mariam Jincharadze, the association’s International Project Development Manager, participated in the events.
The seminars and activities were organized by NALAG with the support of the host municipalities and in collaboration with the Gori Municipality Development and the Tani and Tedzimi Protected Landscape Management Agency.
It should be noted that the project, co-financed by the European Union under the Black Sea Basin Program, is being implemented in Georgia by the National Association of Local Authorities (NALAG).
The project’s goal is to increase communities’ and local authorities’ involvement in environmental protection activities, with a focus on reducing microplastics in rivers, lakes, and along seashores.
“EcoYOU” involves transnational cooperation between environmental NGOs, educational institutions, civil servants, and youth groups. The project aims to address pollution issues effectively by using shared resources and exchanging experiences.
