To promote the strengthening of local gender equality policies, the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia held another working meeting.<\/p>\n
This time, the audience comprised the heads of municipalities from Eastern Georgia.<\/p>\n
The working meeting was opened by the Vice-President of NALAG, Mayor of Dusheti, Manana (Matsatso) Narimanidze, and the Executive Director of the Association, Nino Rukhadze.<\/p>\n
The speakers highlighted the significant role of the “European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life\u201d and emphasized that NALAG, within its competence, will support the signatory municipalities in implementing the Charter.<\/p>\n
The meeting continued with an introduction to the new articles of the Charter.<\/p>\n
To share best practices, representatives of the municipalities of Kutaisi, Zugdidi, and Gardabani gave presentations and provided participants with information about the programs developed in their self-governing units.<\/p>\n
The meeting was held in an active discussion format. Local government leaders spoke about the challenges in their municipalities in this direction and discussed possible solutions with experts.<\/p>\n
Notably, at the end of the meeting, several municipalities expressed their willingness to sign the European Charter.<\/p>\n
The working meeting, held in Telavi Municipality, was organized in cooperation with NALAG and UN Women within the framework of the project \u201cWomen’s Leadership for Democracy in Georgia,\u201d funded by the Government of Norway and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.<\/p>\n
